Status: pre-productionSynopsis: Two balloon twisters vie for the same job at a child’s birthday party. It’s like high noon — with balloons.

Background: A quirky comedy that takes a fun and absurd look at the art (and rivalry) of balloon twisting. To be filmed in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.


“TAPESTRY” – narrative/commercial short film
written and directed by Kevin Murray; produced by Charlotte Bilingual Preschool

Synopsis: Every journey begins with the first brave step. As a man reflects on the tapestry of his life, he realizes all of his successes began at one very special place in his childhood. Now, he aims to start his daughter down a similar journey of happiness and success.

Background: A narrative film commissioned by and about Charlotte Bilingual Preschool, “Tapestry” features a cast and crew comprised of Charlotte-area creatives.

“CLT in 3” – commercial video series
directed by Kevin Murray, produced by Dickens Mitchener Real Estate

Synopsis: A look at all the things that make Charlotte such a great place to live and work.

Background: An online video series commissioned by Dickens Mitchener’s award-winning relocation team to highlight the communities and offerings of Charlotte, North Carolina.


“SPECULAR” – narrative short film
written, produced, and directed by Kevin Murray, based on a story by Shane Grant

Synopsis: On the run from her abusive, mobster husband, a woman’s possible means of escape may lead her into even more danger. She learns there are even greater monsters to fear.

Background: A thrilling chase story with elements of horror and the supernatural, “Specular” features an all-volunteer cast and crew and was shot primarily in the Shelby, North Carolina area.

“The TALK” – narrative short film
written and directed by Cameron Voris, co-produced by Cameron Voris and Kevin Murray

Synopsis: It’s always awkward the first time. A young girl prepares for her “first time” and shares a heart to heart with her mother. Meanwhile, her father is left to attend to her date. Needless to say, the night gets a little intense.

Background: “The Talk” features an all-volunteer cast and crew and was shot in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“HOPE” – narrative short film
written and directed by Kevin Murray, co-produced by Kevin Murray and Kevin Geter

Synopsis: No longer content with killing, a hitman has one last job to complete before he can retire — but to what end? After a long career of taking lives, he is uncertain what, if anything, he has that is worth living for … until he meets a peculiar young woman who inspires a certain something within him — hope.

Background: A “loose prequel” to the action short “Memento Mori,” “Hope” features an all-volunteer cast and crew and was shot around the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

“FOR LOVE” – narrative short film
written, produced, and directed by Kevin Murray

Synopsis: He can save the world; he just can’t talk to a girl. Seemingly-average Matt shleps through his workdays at a local convenience store, mostly unnoticed by everyone, including his coworker Maddie, the girl of his dreams. Little does anyone know that Matt is actually quite a remarkable fellow who single-handedly saves the world from destruction every night.

Background: A lighthearted tale with elements of comedy, action and fantasy, “For Love” features an all-volunteer cast and crew and was shot around the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

“MARK” – narrative short film
directed by David Superville; co-written by Cameron Voris, Kevin Murray, Chris Bollinger, and David Superville

Synopsis: They’re going to milk him for all he’s worth. Mark is a busy single dad, trying to get through the morning routine in order to get his kid off to school, when a suspicious housing inspector shows up at the door. What transpires next is a series of unfortunate events that drive Mark to a confrontation with tragic consequences.

Background: Made in collaboration with Cosmic River Films for the 2017 Charlotte 48 Hour Film Project, “Mark” features an all-volunteer cast and crew.

Accolades: “Mark” won runner-up (second place) as well as an award for best use of character in the 2017 Charlotte 48 Hour Film Project. It was an official selection of the 2018 Underexposed Film Festival and the 2018 Longleaf Film Festival .



“LITTLE ANGEL” – narrative short film
written, produced, and directed by Kevin Murray

Synopsis: Your room awaits. When a woman’s car breaks down on a desolate road on a dark and stormy night, she fears the worst — no cell signal, no one around — until she sees the Little Angel Bed and Breakfast. Is this quaint house a safe haven from the night, or are the woman’s terrors just beginning?

Background: A spin on the creepy old house horror movie, “Little Angel” features an all-volunteer cast and crew and was shot around the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

Accolades: “Little Angel” was named one of the best horror films of 2017 by the Spotlight Horror Film Awards! It received a Silver Award, given to “unforgettable films with the third highest scores” from the judging panel.

“Little Angel” won Best Cinematography at the 2017 Horror in the Hills Film Festival in Gatlinburg, N.C., where it also was nominated for Best Music and Best Sound. It also was nominated for Best Picture at the 2017 Asheville Film Festival, and was nominated for Best Scare, Best Atmosphere and Best Sound in the 2017 Independent Horror Movie Awards.

“Little Angel” also is a 2017 Reedy Reels Film Festival in Greensville, S.C.; and the 2017 Halloween International Film Festival in Kill Devil Hills, N.C.

Background: “Memento Mori” is a female-centric, adrenaline-fueled action flick and a passion project of Murray, a giddy fan of action and spy movies (a la Bond and Bourne films). Filmed in collaboration with Cosmic Films Films around the Charlotte, North Carolina area with an all-volunteer cast and crew.
